Joe Rorke of Restoration Worx, a local resident, has developed the first ‘Surface to Surface,’ heat assisted carpet and pad in place drying. The traditional system is known as ‘Top Down Drying.’ Top down drying usually takes 100 to 125 hours for drying wet carpets and pad.
Water damage has three categories. Category 1 is fresh water. With this new invention, actual ‘on location drying’ has shown to take 24 to 36 hours. Why is Surface to Surface Drying so fast? it starts with 95 to 97 per cent of water being extracted.
The use of heat causes more evaporation (vapor pressure) to occur and dehumidification will collect from the source where the most water vapour accumulates, resulting in faster dryouts.
Fresh water causes an inconvenience, not problems. Time causes the problems, because if not detected or handled promptly there will be an accelerated growth of mold and mildew which will have to be removed.
Early detection and handling is a must! Why? If fresh water is left for 120 hours this will change the category 1 to category 3 and carpeting, pad and walls will have to be removed.
Here’s how “Surface to Surface” drying is done. After extraction, we connect dehumidifiers to a heat source, coupled to our “Surface to Surface Carpet Cruisers.”
This system delivers dry, hot air to wet car- pets, causing more vapour pressure vs stan- dard method. With more moisture being removed faster, drying times are achieved so you can get back to normal life quicker.
See our page on Water Damage. Look to water damage category 1 to follow steps. If you have a category 2 problem, the pad or cushion is removed, then follow same as category 1.
Sewer damage or category 3 is a totally different animal.
First we remove all objects, carpet, pad, furniture, contents etc. that has come in contact with the contaminate.
Most homes and commercial buildings built before 1990 can contain asbestos. After only taking samples of drywall joint compound, texture ceilings and VC tile, samples will be sent to the lab to be tested for asbestos.

With the report in hand, if asbestos is detected, we will remove asbestos and drywall by certified procedures, keeping in mind our safety and more importantly our valued customer – you!
